Xavier Pagès i Corella
Conductor and composer
Xavier Pagès i Corella is a Spanish-Catalan conductor and composer who has studied in Barcelona and Viena. His music style is highly contrasting, ranging from his first tonal period, influenced by composers such Debussy and Stravinsky, to his current atonal language based in very personal concept of harmony and counterpoint. He has been awarded in several composition competitions, such as the 17th International Composition Competition 'City of Tarragona' (2010) and the Oare String Orchestra International Music for Strings Composing Competition (2004).

My work Echoes for piano and orchestra have been awarded at the 17th International Composition Competition City of Tarragona. The jury was formed by Vincent Paulet as president, and Joan Guinjoan, José Mª Sánchez Verdú, Agustí Charles Soler, Eduard Resina Bertran, Alain Weber, Jean Pierre Dupuy and Martín Matalón, as vocals. The prize consists in 12.000 euro and the premiere of the work by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and National of Catalonia, next summer. About the work: ...
